The century-old German company SHW announced that the construction and renovation of its new production and assembly base for spindle products for industrial machine tools in China, located in Bao'an District, Shenzhen, will be completed by the end of April 2026, marking a new stage in SHW's layout in China. The initial phase of the new base will focus on the production and assembly of machining center electric spindles and grinding machine electric spindles, further enhancing its local service capabilities for the Chinese market.
As a key supplier of core components for industrial machine tools, SHW's newly launched machining center electric spindles are widely compatible with five-axis machining centers, ultra-precision high-speed machine tools, and vertical machining centers such as the 855/1160 models, meeting complex part processing needs with high efficiency, precision, and stability. The grinding machine electric spindles serve vertical grinding machines, cylindrical grinding machines, and high-speed internal grinding machines, providing reliable power support for precision grinding processes.
Since its establishment in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, in 1921, SHW has accumulated a century of technological expertise: it began developing and producing universal milling heads and spindles in 1960, established a spindle and rotary head technology center in 2000, relocated the production of milling heads and spindles to Taiwan, China, in 2012, set up a spindle product business unit in Germany in 2022, and officially established a spindle product operation center in Shenzhen in 2025, gradually building a global R&D and production network.
Currently, SHW's spindle products have covered multiple fields such as milling machines, lathes, grinding machines, and ultrasonic machines. Since October 2025, models such as the drilling and tapping machine spindle, grinding machine spindle, and vertical machining center spindle have been successively trial-assembled at the Shenzhen company. The commissioning of this new production base will further expand production capacity and accelerate the response to Chinese customers' demand for mid-to-high-end electric spindles.
Leveraging Germany's century-old precision engineering technology and local industrial advantages, SHW China will continue to empower the upgrading of China's industrial machine tools with innovative products, providing more efficient and reliable spindle solutions for the precision manufacturing sector.
